


Thomas Hippele specialises in commercial, corporate and contract law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and commodities sectors. He also deals with international inheritance law, estate planning, commercial criminal law and international arbitration proceedings. A particular focus is on South African law, along with other legal systems in Southern Africa and the French-speaking countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
Thomas Hippele studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich (lic. iur. 1990, magna cum laude) and was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 1992. Since then, he has worked for an internationally oriented commercial law firm in Zurich. From 1995 to 1996, Thomas Hippele worked at Bowman Gilfillan in Johannesburg. From 1997 until he joined our firm, he was a partner in an internationally oriented Zurich commercial law firm. Thomas Hippele also established an office in South Africa and played a key role in setting up the Swiss-Southern African Chamber of Commerce, of which he was president of the South African chamber for many years. Finally, Thomas Hippele also has extensive experience as a member of boards of directors.
